What do we do?

The world of Financial Services can look like a bit of a maze when you’re not in it. What we’re doing is simple - trying to unravel this for university students who have an ambition to break into the industry through 1-to-1 mentoring.

In doing this, we hope that more and more students will be better able to decide where they best fit into the industry and improve the representation of minority demographic groups in Financial Services as a whole.

Why do we do it?

We’ll be completely honest. We don’t think the world is a very fair place. Equality of opportunity is a social ideal which will likely never really be achieved - but why not try?

ArchUp Mentoring was started in the beginning of 2020, when it became apparent that a lot spring weeks, internships, placement years and graduate roles were cancelled. We believe those most impacted by this change were those who didn’t have the industry connections to easily get access to information and industry experience. So Ioana, our founder, started mentoring a few students in her network, connected others where she could, and when it all became a bit much, decided to scale it and open it out to the wider student population. And so ArchUp Mentoring was born.

What have we done so far?

So far, we have paired 95 mentees with 64 mentors. The range of students that applied, combined with the outpour of positive feedback is a huge motivator to keep this initiative going and support more students.
