Driving Diversity & Inclusion in Finance through mentoring

We know how hard it can be to understand the world of Finance and decide where you can fit into it. This is why we’re breaking down barriers and evening out the playing field - through providing you direct access to a mentor.

  • Gisselle, Summer Intern, Asset Management

“I want to say thank you so much for starting ArchUp and for matching me with my mentor! We've been having regular calls every few weeks; having someone in the City to honestly talk to (outside of recruiters and other people you're constantly trying to impress as a prospective candidate) has been such an asset. Please continue with this initiative for years to come, I will be telling all my peers to sign up! It's so important to encourage communication across generations not just for imparting career-focused knowledge but also general wisdom, and your facilitation of that has led to a relationship that I see continuing for many years to come. So thank you for everything you've done for me and the rest of the cohort :))”

  • Adam, Investment Analyst

“I was paired up with a mentor from the buyside, specifically within Venture Capital. Coincidently I was paired up with my mentor at roughly the same time that I received my offer for my summer internship. Therefore, a lot of my discussions with my mentor were centred around how to excel and perform well during my summer internship. The discussions definitely helped as I was able to convert my summer internship into a full-time role! Also, it was great to hear advice from someone who worked in investing and it gave me a better picture. Overall, it has been a great experience to gain career advice, develop my knowledge and broaden my network.”

  • Sam, Summer Intern, Investment Banking

“It’s so helpful to have someone who left university just a few years ago as a mentor, who explained the difference between Asset Management, M&A, Investment Banking and Corporate Finance. These are always talked about by people on my course but I’ve never really understood what they mean and if they’re roles I could ever do. Having studied History and Politics, I always thought I would end up in an Operations team as everything else felt too ‘finance related’ but I’ve since been offered a summer internship in Investment Banking which I’m so happy about. I literally don’t think this would have happened without my mentor. Thank you so much, I can’t wait until I’m in a position to help others students in turn.”

It’s preeeeetty simple…

Did we mention it’s completely free?

  • 1. Apply.

It all begins with an application. Let us know which area of Finance you’re interested in, or if you’ve not really decided yet - that’s okay too!

If you’re comfortable, share your gender and ethnicity and if you’d like to be paired with someone from the same background. As hard as we will try, we can’t guarantee we’ll be able to fulfil this.

  • 2. Meet your mentor

If you’re selected, we will try to match you with a mentor most suited to your interests and experience.

Both you and your mentor will be notified of the match and will be asked to arrange for a regular time every month (for 3 months) to meet for a 1 hour virtual call. With ArchUp Mentoring being a global program, meeting virtually is the only form of communication we recommend.

  • 3. Reach your goals.

Through your mentoring sessions, you’ll hopefully better understand the world of Finance, what your own strengths are and how to navigate these to reach a role in an area of Finance best suited to you.

Your mentor will be able to provide either general guidance or more specific advice about how to navigate the application process of CVs, Cover Letters and interviews, but aren’t necessarily there to review these in detail. But remember - you’re in control of your development, so stay proactive to make the most of a mentor’s time.
